Special Guest Speaker

AFHE Mid-Year Refresher 2014 - Eric and Velvet Jones
Eric Jones

Eric Jones is the Senior Pastor of Evident Life Church in Gilbert, Arizona. Prior to answering the call of full-time ministry, Eric enjoyed a rewarding career in information technology and also real estate. In addition to his leadership in the local church, Eric is also actively involved in planting churches and encouraging Christian growth in Ghana Africa. Eric and his wife, Velvet, have been married for 22 years and are blessed with one daughter and three sons. They homeschool all four children with their oldest graduating in May 2014. Eric's approach to life and parenting is one of modeling rather than following formulas. In his practical, straightforward, and engaging style, Eric encourages others to live authentically before God, man, and their children.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Bringing Them Along: Venturing Beyond Family Bible Time and into the Family Calling

As homeschooling parents, we have an opportunity to have a unique impact on our children. This is important because it takes more than rules and strategies to raise-up our children in the way they should go. It takes us, it takes involvement, it takes modeling the Christian life, and it takes a commitment to the family calling.

HOW THE MID-YEAR REFRESHER CAME TO BE

AFHE hosts an annual Leadership Conference for Arizona homeschool support group leaders, which is an all-day event held on a Saturday in the winter, usually at the end of January. In 2007, we were inspired to expand and create an opportunity for more homeschooling parents to get to enjoy the great speakers we bring in to encourage support group leaders at the Leadership Conference. This was the beginning of the AFHE Mid-Year Refresher and it has become a favorite event specifically geared toward refreshing homeschooling parents and providing a mid-year boost of encouragement to help finish the year strong.
