AZ STATE CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
HOMESCHOOLERS DID VERY WELL

April 2006

Congratulations to the Chevalier Noir Academy Homeschool Chess Team at the 2006 Arizona State Chess Championship, April 28-30, in Gilbert, AZ.

The K-6th grade team placed 1st in the State

Peter Fenger,  K-6 1st Place Individual Champion

Other trophy recipients in the section included:

Daniel Harmonick (13th)
Ben Braaksma (17th).

The K-1 and Junior High teams both finished in 7th place, with individual trophies going to:

Levi Johnson, K-1 section (8th place)
Ryan Harmonick, Junior High section (16th)

In the Blitz (speed chess) Championship Friday Night the K-1 team placed 1st, and the K-6 and Junior/Senior High team each finished in 2nd place.

Harmonick House of Chess (non-competitive) / Chevalier Noir Academy (competitive) is a homeschool chess club that meets in the East Valley and is run by homeschooled teen Phillip Harmonick. In addition, Coach Phillip offers summer chess classes and family chess nights.
