Posted: February 15, 2007

Homeschool student, Austin Crosby, participated in the Ace Bailey's Got Skills competition at the Glendale Arena on November 6, 2006.   It is an event put on by the Ace Bailey Foundation to test hockey players in five skill areas: fastest skater, hardest shot, most accurate shot, shoot-out and best goalie. Ace Bailey was a retired NHL player who died on 9/11 in one of the airplanes.

There were 120 kids in the Squirt (9-10 year old) and PeeWee (11-12 year old) divisions. Austin won the fastest skater for the Squirt House league with a lap time of 16.2 mph.

Austin was one of five winners from the Squirt House League selected to compete at the National Championships in New York City in June of 2007.

Currently, Austin is playing in the CAHA league at the Ice Den in Scottsdale. He is on the Ice Dogs, which is coached by his father, Rick. So far this season he has had two hat tricks (three goals in one game) and 10 goals in 11 games.
