NEWS COMMAND PERFORMERS PRESS RELEASE Kenny Jezek Film, Stage and Former T.V. Stars Begin Rehearsals For First Play in March With A Judeo/Christian Worldview CHANDLER, AZ. (January 23, 2009) The cast has been picked and Command Performers, a family friendly community theatre company, will begin rehearsals for its first production, “Little Women” starting Feb 2. The play will run March 20-21, 2009 at the Mesquite High School Auditorium in Gilbert (McQueen and Warner Roads). Performance times are, Friday, March 20 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. Command Performers is headed up by husband and wife team, Kenny and Karen Jezek. With substantial credits on their resumes including starring roles during the mid 80’s in “Days Of Our Lives” (Kenny playing Lars Englund), “Capitol” (Karen playing Brenda Clegg) and Kenny in the Los Angeles companies of “Cats” and “42nd. Street”, the pair bring with them over 40 years of collective experience. After leaving Hollywood in 1988 they became Christians shortly after moving to Arizona. The Lord quickly had them involved in the performing arts at a large church in the East Valley. During the years that followed they have had the privilege of participating in numerous stage and film productions. Kenny recalls how often they were asked by so many people, who knew their background, when, and if, they would start producing plays. For a long time it seemed that the time wasn’t right....until now. After completing production on Advent Film Group’s “Come What May” (being distributed by Provident Films, March of this year) in the Summer of 2007 they began the work of developing a community theatre production company that they have called “Command Performers”. “There are so very many Christians in this area with real talent in performance and production who earnestly desire to use their talents in a way that honors the Lord,” says Kenny. “The problem is, there are few stage production companies that produce wholesome, family friendly plays and musicals in a God honoring environment, leaving them either without a place to further develop and use these gifts and talents, or risk exposing themselves to the temptations and influences of a more worldly environment.” The Jezek’s vision doesn’t stop at producing family-friendly plays. Another goal is to create an apprentice program that uses the production of these plays and musicals as a training ground for Christians to learn about stage production by “doing”, a vision they share with Advent Film Group. “We have been blessed to have worked with some of the very best in the entertainment industry”, adds Karen, “and we believe it is the Lord’s will for us to not only produce wholesome live entertainment, but to also pass on what we have learned about production and performance to future generations of Christians.” Kenny and Karen homeschool their children in Chandler, AZ.
