As part of AFHE’s 35th Anniversary celebration in 2018, AFHE hosted a National Anthem Contest for Arizona homeschooled students and homeschool graduates age 25 and under. It’s always fun to celebrate the accomplishments of the students in our state and even more so when we can get the community involved.

Voting took place online February 12-15, 2018. With enthusiastic participation from friends, family, and the homeschool community, nearly 1,200 votes were cast. The top three finalists by popular vote were Hailey Shank (168 votes), Abbi Robertson (199 votes), and with 354 votes, Bethany Boone, age 16, from Flagstaff was the clear winner.

We are grateful to everyone who took the time to vote and support these talented young ladies! And we are so proud of all of the students for submitting a video and sharing their talent with us.

Congratulations, Bethany Boone!

Bethany will lead the homeschool community in singing the National Anthem at Homeschool Day at the Capitol on Monday, April 23, 2018. In addition, she will receive a $50 cash prize and will be invited to sing the National Anthem at the 2018 AFHE Homeschool Convention July 13-14.
