Exhibit Hall Information for Attendees

Exhibitors are a key part of our convention! We encourage you to plan time to visit the exhibit hall and attend exhibitor workshops, too. With over 140 vendors in more than 80,000 square feet of exhibit hall space, you will find an array of some of the finest homeschool resources available.

You will enjoy a shopping experience unlike any other in the state of Arizona at the AFHE Convention. Nowhere else will you be able to shop and compare curriculum and resources in person from this many exhibitors and publishers all in one place! We are grateful for the businesses who come and support the Arizona homeschool community by providing our convention attendees with a wide variety of quality curriculum and resources from which to choose.

Many of the exhibitors have a great deal of knowledge and expertise and are happy to answer your questions and assist you. Be sure to stop and chat with them and thank them for investing the time and resources to come the AFHE Convention!

EXHIBIT HALL ETIQUETTE

Many of the exhibitors are experts in their field, and we encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to ask them questions and learn from them. When an exhibitor takes the time and effort to explain a product or give beneficial advice, please buy the product from the exhibitor who took the time with you. It is unfair to take advantage of one exhibitor’s time and knowledge and then purchase that product for less from a competitor. Buying materials from the exhibitor who took the time with you encourages an atmosphere of trust and sharing. It also encourages the return of knowledgeable, well-established exhibitors to our annual convention.

EXHIBIT HALL HOURS

Friday, July 13
10:00 am – 6:30 pm

Saturday, July 14
8:30 am – 4:30 pm

EXHIBITOR WORKSHOPS

We are pleased to offer the opportunity for registered exhibitors to present exhibitor workshops during the convention. Exhibitor workshops can be product demonstrations, introduction to services, or general interest sessions that may benefit your family. We encourage you to attend exhibitor workshops in addition to the featured speaker workshops hosted by AFHE.

Exhibitor workshops take place in 3 curtained areas in the exhibit hall on the north (left side). They run for 45 minutes and start at the bottom of the hour. This is different than the general session workshop schedule for featured speakers outlined above.

EXHIBITOR WORKSHOPS will be posted in May

DISTRIBUTING MATERIALS/POLLS/PETITIONS PROHIBITED

Out of respect for our exhibitors and advertisers who have paid for booth space and advertising, distribution of literature, business cards, or materials and promotion of business is not permitted during the convention. Formal or informal surveys, polls, or canvassing attendees asking them for input is prohibited. Campaigning and signature gathering for petitions are not permitted inside the building.

CHILDREN & TEENS IN THE EXHIBIT HALL

Children age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children and teens should conduct themselves politely and responsibly and not be playing or running around in the exhibit hall.

We strive to create a pleasant and safe shopping experience for our attendees. Parents shopping in the hall should not have to work around overly exuberant children or teens in order to speak to a vendor, make a purchase, or walk from place to place.

MENTORING MOMS

Experienced homeschool moms are available Friday and Saturday during exhibit hall hours to answer your homeschooling questions and to share wisdom and encouragement with you. The Mentoring Moms booth is located just inside the exhibit hall to the left next to the AFHE booth. These seasoned homeschool moms can offer guidance as you navigate the exhibit hall as well.

BOOK CHECK & STROLLER PARKING BOOTH

We are pleased to announce that we will once again provide a book check inside the exhibit hall just inside the entrance to the left next to the AFHE Booth. You’ll be able to leave your purchases and strollers for a small fee with our book check team. Claim numbers will be issued to allow you to pick up your items or add to your pile.

Due to space limitations and hazards due to blocked aisles, strollers will only be permitted in designated spaces in the back row in the workshop rooms. You may park your strollers in the book check area for a small fee.

There is plenty of space for strollers in the ballroom and in the exhibit hall. We ask parents with strollers to be mindful and not block aisles or create tripping hazards for other attendees.

FAMILY GAME AREA

For your convenience, we are providing an assortment of board games, puzzles, card games, etc. at the round tables in the Young Entrepreneurs area.

This is a great opportunity for a parent to sit and rest a bit while their child plays between workshops and perhaps while the other parent is shopping in the hall.

IMPORTANT: Children may not be left unsupervised in this area. An adult must be present with them.

NURSING MOMS LOUNGE

For your privacy and convenience, a curtained area is available in the exhibit hall. (When you enter the exhibit hall turn right and you will find the lounge in the corner. Mothers with infants may sit down, feed their babies, and rest a bit. No men, please. Electricity is provided for nursing mothers who need to pump. Refrigeration is not available.

EXHIBIT HALL ONLY SHOPPING PASS DISCONTINUED

The past couple of years we offered a discount rate exhibit hall only pass for Saturday afternoon for those who just wanted to come and shop in the exhibit hall.

Unfortunately, due to misuse by an increasing number of our attendees, the exhibit hall only pass has been discontinued for 2018.

We encourage you to take advantage of early bird registration pricing and volunteer opportunities to save on admission fees.

Buy It Here! encourages attendees to shop on-site from our exhibitors and rewards you for shopping on-site with entries in our prize drawing Saturday evening, which includes FOUR cash prizes of $100 plus many great prizes donated by our exhibitors and others.

FOR EXHIBITORS

AFHE 2018 Convention - Homeschool Arizona

2018 Application Now Open

The AFHE Convention is an event that focuses on encouraging, equipping, and inspiring parents as they endeavor to teach their children themselves at home. Businesses that sell products or services designed to meet the needs of homeschooling families are invited to apply for exhibit space during the AFHE Convention.

2017 Total Attendance: 4,600
Approx. 1600 families/buying units

The last several years, our attendance was in the 5,000-5,200 range. Having our event so close to the 4th of July in 2017 and other factors contributed to the slightly lower numbers. We anticipate being closer to the attendance numbers of previous years again in 2018.
