We are pleased to introduce AFHE’s newest board couple, Peter and Allison Gentala. Peter and Allison were both homeschooled for the majority of their primary and secondary education years, Peter in Arizona and Allison in Texas. They met during college while serving on a traveling ministry team. In 1998, they both graduated from Dallas Baptist University where Peter earned a BA in history and Allison a BS in elementary education. They were married the next day and promptly moved to Virginia where Allison taught in the classroom and Peter earned a MA in public policy and a law degree. Upon graduating in 2002, they moved to Arizona. Through the years Peter has worked on a variety of constitutional issues at Alliance Defending Freedom and the Center for Arizona Policy. He also served for seven years as the General Counsel of Arizona’s House of Representatives. He is currently the General Counsel and Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy at Childhelp. Meanwhile, Allison has been in the trenches homeschooling their eight children: Nathan, Brennan, Abigail, Wesley, Seth, Ransom, Timothy, and Asher. The Gentalas are tackling the junior high and high school years as a team with Peter having weekly meetings to go over assignments and teaching writing. Peter and Allison have a passion for winning the hearts of their children, cultivating in them a rooted and growing love for the Lord, and encouraging other parents along the journey. As second generation homeschoolers, they are excited to join the AFHE Board and look forward to serving the homeschool community and working to preserve homeschool freedoms in Arizona.
