The AFHE Board of Directors highly values the role of the local homeschool group as a place where families can connect, build relationships, and encourage one another in the homeschool journey. We appreciate and esteem the men and women who lead homeschool support groups across Arizona.

AFHE hosts an annual Leadership Conference for Arizona homeschool support group leaders with the purpose of bringing group leaders together to share ideas, receive encouragement, and get updates about issues related to homeschooling in Arizona. Our desire is to equip, refresh, inspire, and show appreciation for leaders who volunteer their time serving and supporting homeschooling families in their local area throughout the year.

We invite leaders from homeschool groups listed on the AFHE website as well as leaders of groups that are eligible to be listed on the website. Meaning your group exists specifically to serve families who are homeschooling in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes. You may include virtual charter school or ESA families in your membership or group activities, but your group must be predominantly composed of homeschooling families and your leadership team is made up of homeschooling parents. If you have questions, please feel free to email us at groups@afhe.org

We appreciate the faithful service of homeschool group leaders to support Arizona’s homeschool community.

Senior Counsel, HSLDA

A homeschool graduate, Darren Jones received his J.D. from Oak Brook College of Law. He first came to work for HSLDA as a legal assistant. As a litigation attorney, Darren assists Jim Mason in preparing cases and defending members who are experiencing legal difficulty. He also works with homeschool support groups, assisting them with legal issues. Darren and his wife Sara have four children, whom they homeschool as a team.

Darren’s Workshops

Guard your support group against legal surprises! In this workshop, Darren helps you understand issues that affect your group, including civil rights law, child abuse prevention, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Don’t miss this important discussion of policies your support group should adopt when addressing membership issues and child protection!

The best way to safeguard the future is to learn from the past. Homeschooling’s history of close calls and exciting victories sheds light on upcoming challenges to homeschool freedom. Come hear the secret to keeping homeschool freedom free.
