The AFHE Board of Directors highly values the role of the local homeschool group as a place where families can connect, build relationships, and encourage one another in the homeschool journey. We appreciate and esteem the men and women who lead homeschool support groups across Arizona.

AFHE hosts an annual Leadership Conference for Arizona homeschool support group leaders with the purpose of bringing these leaders together to share ideas, receive encouragement, and get updates about issues related to homeschooling in Arizona. Our desire is to equip, refresh, inspire, and show appreciation for the dedicated leaders who volunteer their time serving and supporting homeschooling families in their local area throughout the year.

We invite leaders from homeschool groups listed on the AFHE website as well as leaders of groups that are eligible to be listed on the website groups that exist specifically to serve families who are homeschooling. If you have questions, please feel free to email us at

We appreciate the faithful service of homeschool group leaders to support Arizona’s homeschool community.

President of Arizona Christian University

Len Munsil is the 6th President of Arizona Christian University, serving since 2010. Munsil has an accomplished record as a public policy expert, conservative organizational entrepreneur, lawyer, journalist, educator, and author.

In Munsil’s 10 years as President, ACU has changed its name, strengthened its conservative Christian purpose, tripled in size, acquired a much larger campus, increased enrollment for 6 straight years and been ranked for 3 straight years as a Best College by U.S. News & World Report, including in 2020 being chosen the No. 1 Undergraduate Teaching institution in the West. Having now topped 1,000 students, ACU remains committed to the small college experience as it produces leaders who will transform culture with biblical truth. ACU is the only accredited Christian college or university in the southwest where students, faculty and staff attest to their faith in Christ, and all faculty and staff commit to support for biblical values such as the sanctity of life, marriage between a man and a woman, limited government and economic freedom.

In 2006, Munsil won the Republican nomination for Governor of Arizona but lost to the incumbent Governor. In 2016 he was a delegate and platform committee member at the Republican National Convention. He was the founding president of Center for Arizona Policy and over 10 years built it into the nation’s largest and most influential state-based pro-family and pro-life organization. He is an expert in constitutional law and the First Amendment. In 2020 he was selected an Outstanding Leader in Education by the Arizona Business Journal.

President Munsil holds a Juris Doctor from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, and a Bachelor’s Degree from the ASU Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Telecommunication, where he was the Outstanding Graduate. Len and his wife Tracy have eight adult children and ten grandchildren. Tracy and Len home educated for 14 years and are now helping support the home education of their grandchildren. Dr. Tracy Munsil built on her love for teaching as a home educator to return to graduate school and earn a PhD in Political Science from Arizona State University. Dr. Munsil was on faculty at ASU and then founded and chaired the Political Science program at Arizona Christian University. Dr. Munsil is now the Executive Director of the Cultural Research Center at ACU, working with CRC Director of Research Dr. George Barna, and is serving her second four-year term on the Commission on Appellate Court Appointments, having been twice appointed by Gov. Doug Ducey and confirmed by the Arizona Senate.

It’s OK to Say NO!

Let’s face it, leaders are in the service business, and homeschoolers are our customers. This gives us the idea that our job is to please the customer – which we mistakenly believe means bending over backward to provide whatever they demand. However, we’re also homeschooling parents, spouses, employees, etc, and we can only do so much. And volunteers – what volunteers? We hear so many suggestions of classes and programs, but when we ask for volunteers, everyone is “too busy,” leaving the leadership team to pick up the ball.

How do you know what to say no to and what is actually worthy of your yes?

What if you have the best of everything – the space, the teachers, and the volunteers. Does that mean you can say yes to everything?

Find out why it’s OK to say no.

We are grateful for the sponsors that partner with us to provide a quality event, while helping to keep costs as low as possible for leaders to attend this special day dedicated to you! These amazing companies/organizations love homeschoolers and we are blessed to have them join us for this year’s AFHE Leadership Conference!
