ONE HOMESCHOOL GRAD’S 8 (+1) REASONS TO HOMESCHOOL

ALL PARENTS 7:00-8:00 PM
Darren Jones

Darren attended several different public schools and a private Christian school before being homeschooled. With his diverse educational experience, he and his wife have chosen to teach their own children at home—but maybe not for the reasons you’d expect! Come hear Darren’s reasons for homeschooling and be inspired to find your own reasons.

“I’D LOVE TO HELP, BUT HOW?” DADS AND HOMESCHOOLING

FOR DADS 8:30-9:30 PM
Darren Jones

In many homeschooling families, Mom is the day-to-day teacher with input and support from Dad, but it doesn’t have to be that way—and it often isn’t. What happens when Dad is more involved or even the primary educator (and not just for the seriously cool science experiments)? Navigating play dates, setting schedules, and maintaining the routine all bring their own special challenges. In this workshop, Darren gives advice and encouragement for dads.

RUNNING THE HOMESCHOOL MARATHON: TEN TRAINING TIPS

FOR MOMS 8:30-9:30 PM
Zan Tyler

Homeschooling is more like running a 26-mile marathon than a 100-yard dash. If you want to complete the race successfully, you must develop a training strategy that builds your strength, stamina, and vision and enables you to persevere until the end. We will discuss lofty topics like creating a powerful and sustaining vision. And we will look at down-to-earth topics like pacing yourself, choosing curriculum, and developing homeschool mentors and friends. Zan Tyler, who homeschooled her children for 21 years, provides training tips that will help you complete the God-given task of homeschooling and help you and your children “run with endurance the race that lies before us.”

Pre-registration is now closed, but it’s not too late to join us. You can register at the door for this event. Invite your friends!

We can accept cash, check payable to AFHE, or credit card at the door.
