APRIL 15, 2021: We must announce a slight delay in the registration timeline for the AFHE Convention. We have been working hard for several months and have so much more to announce and unveil, but due to the shift to a new venue for this year we need just a little more time to finalize all the details and logistics surrounding ticketing. Rather than opening registration on April 16, we expect to have everything in place within the next few days. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding!

The early bird registration price will be honored for two weeks when we open registration, as planned and previously announced. Also, First Time Attendee and Military Discount coupon codes will still allow registration at 50% off the current admission price at the date of registration.

We anticipate being able to open registration after just a short pause – please check back on this web page and our Facebook page. We will communicate further updates as soon as possible. There will be an email sent out to our mailing list when we are ready to open the pre-registration form.

Everyone on the AFHE board and Convention Committee is just as excited as you are to launch this registration process and then see this long-awaited convention take place! It will be a memorable time as we celebrate and discover that Homeschooling Changes Lives!

AFHE MEMBERS SAVE: AFHE Membership allows you to enjoy pre-registration discount convention admission pricing. If you are not yet an AFHE Member or your membership expires before August 1, 2021, JOIN OR RENEW before you begin the registration process.

LOG INTO YOUR MEMBER PROFILE TO REGISTER:  AFHE Members, be sure to log into your member profile before you begin the registration process.

After June 25, registration will be available on-site.

We’ve got a great weekend planned for you! You’ll be encouraged and equipped for the home education adventure and you’ll come away with inspiration and ideas for teaching your kids, too!

Frequently Asked Questions

NAME BADGES

Your name badge is your admission to workshops, keynotes, and the exhibit hall. Name badges must be worn at all times while at the AFHE Convention. Name badges may not be shared or transferred. First and last names are required on all name badges.

PICK UP YOUR NAME BADGE(S) ON-SITE
For those who register online by June 25, your name badges will be available for pick up on-site at the Box Office windows on the north side of the GCU Arena. Look for the PRE-REGISTRATION sign. Name badges will be not be mailed.

Those who register at the door will be issued a handwritten name badge at on-site registration.

NON-HOMESCHOOLING GRANDPARENTS

We value the importance of grandparents in the homeschooling process and welcome grandparents at the AFHE Convention! Non-homeschooling grandparents are always free if they attend with their adult child who is registered for the Convention.

Grandparents who are still homeschooling one or more of their own children must register separately and pay the admission fee.

CHILDREN AND TEENS

We love children and you are welcome to bring your child/children with you, if desired. This conference is geared for parent / teacher enrichment and learning, however, and space is limited in workshop rooms. We encourage you to make childcare arrangements, if possible.

Most workshops will be held in college lecture halls with stadium-style seating, with the entrance at the front of the room. There will be extremely limited space for strollers in these lecture halls and they will have to remain at the front of the room at the entry level.

Teens and children (age 3 and up) will be charged an admission fee of $10 each. Infants (age 2 and under) are admitted free. A designated mothers’ lounge will be available adjacent to the GCU Arena exhibit hall for nursing/feeding infants. Children under age 12 must remain with an adult at all times.

CHRISTIAN TEEN PROGRAM
Homeschooled students ages 12-18 are invited to participate in the 2021 AFHE Convention Teen Program for $25. Space is limited. This special two-day program is educational and fun! The Teen Program registration fee includes admission to all of the Convention.

HOMESCHOOL GRADUATES
Unmarried homeschooled graduates that are attending college or still living at home may register for the convention at the $10 youth rate if they register with their parents. Married graduates or those living on their own must register separately and pay the adult admission fee.

Homeschool graduates of AFHE member families are welcome to volunteer at the AFHE convention!

NOTE: If a workshop room is full, we ask you to have your younger child sit on your lap, if possible. Since the convention is geared toward parent education and equipping, we want as many adults as possible to have the opportunity to sit in on a workshop. If your child is fussy/noisy, please step out of the workshop with them until they quiet.

While we are all parents and appreciate that children make noise, we want to respect that many attendees have made childcare arrangements so they can get the most out of the weekend. In addition, the workshops are being recorded and we want to minimize noise in the rooms to get the best quality recordings.

FIRST-TIME ATTENDEES

AFHE offers a special discount rate to first-time attendees. This offer is for adults who have never before registered for the AFHE Convention. Request your coupon code through the online form on the First-Time Attendees page.

AFHE Membership and Convention Registration are non-refundable and non-transferrable. If you are unable to attend this year’s AFHE Convention for some reason, please know that you are supporting a non-profit organization that serves the Arizona homeschool community all year long and we appreciate your support.

Unredeemed registrations are considered a tax-deductible contribution to AFHE and, upon written request, we will provide a receipt for tax purposes.

PARKING

WHERE DO I PARK?

Free parking is plentiful on the campus of Grand Canyon University. Parking lot maps and instructions will be detailed here shortly.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The AFHE Convention is run almost entirely by volunteers. Volunteers are an integral part of the success of the annual Arizona Home Education Convention hosted by AFHE. Our volunteer workers help keep costs to a minimum while continuing to provide an excellent conference. We are thankful to each and every volunteer who helps to make this event a success!

Learn more information at the volunteer webpage

Volunteers who serve 5 or more hours* during the convention can earn free admission. Those interested in volunteering will complete an online application. Once scheduled, you will receive a special registration link. *Married couples can split the hours, but must work a minimum of 6 hours between husband and wife.

The opportunity to volunteer is a benefit of membership. Current AFHE Membership expiring August 1, 2021 or later is required.

PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEO USAGE

Photographs or video taken at this event may be published in the AFHE magazine, on the AFHE website, on AFHE social media pages, or in other AFHE publications. AFHE does not provide compensation or royalties in conjunction with publication or use of these materials. Any photographs, video, or audio used by AFHE from this event will be used with the purpose of celebrating and promoting homeschooling in Arizona.

STROLLER PARKING & BOOK CHECK

We are pleased to provide a book check just inside the Practice Gym exhibit hall just inside the door to the left. You’ll be able to leave your purchases and strollers for a small fee with our book check team. Claim numbers will be issued to allow you to pick up items or add to your stored items.

Stroller and wheeled cart parking is $3 per day with in-and-out privileges for the day.

Due to space limitations and hazards due to blocked aisles, strollers will only be permitted in designated spaces in the front of lecture halls or the back of the Ethington Theatre. You may park your strollers and roller bags in the book check area (space available basis) for a small fee. Strollers and roller bags are fine in the Antelope Gym (floor only, not in the bleachers), exhibitor workshop classrooms, and in the exhibit halls.

CONTINUING EDUCATION FORMS

AFHE will provide a Continuing Education form for foster parents, childcare workers, and others who need to accrue professional development hours. If you need a form, please ask at the registration counter. An AFHE representative will sign the form and the attendee will write in the workshops he/she attended along with the presenters’ names. AFHE does not have information about which sessions qualify for hours needed for the recipient.

ASL INTERPRETER

AFHE will secure the services of an ASL interpreter to serve in the Antelope Gym during the morning keynote each day and then in the workshop sessions offered in the Antelope Gym for both Friday and Saturday.

While we cannot guarantee we will be able to provide this service every year, we are thankful for the opportunity to do so again in 2021. A number of seats will be reserved at the front for deaf and hard of hearing in the Antelope Gym for the keynotes and workshops.

If there is more than one individual that requires interpreter services and not all of them wish to attend the workshop in the Antelope Gym at a particular time, those individuals may work together to agree on which workshop to have interpreted for that session on the schedule. We are able to hire one set of interpreters to work together for Friday and Saturday.

If you prefer to bring a friend or relative to interpret for you, we will provide free convention admission for your interpreter. Please contact us in advance to get them registered.

NON-HOMESCHOOLING PASTORS

As a means to share the vision of home education and to build strong relationships with Christian churches, we invite non-homeschooling pastors of Arizona churches to attend the convention free of charge. This offer is extended to pastors who do not teach their own children at home currently, but are interested in learning more about homeschooling.

Please have your pastor contact us at registration@afhe.org to receive registration instructions.

Pastors who are homeschooling one or more of their children must register as a regular attendee and pay the admission fee.
