2017 AFHE Convention - Homeschool Arizona

2018 Convention Registration

Pre-registration for this year’s AFHE Convention is open April 2 – June 20, 2018 for AFHE Members. The earlier you register, the more you save!

Pre-registration closed June 20. You will be able to register at the door Friday, July 13 and Saturday, July 14. Registration opens at 8:00 AM each morning. If you are attending a pre-convention activity Thursday, July 12 (College Fair, Special Learners Conference, or “Considering Homeschooling” mini-conference), registration will be open from 2:30-5:30 PM Thursday.

REFUNDS/CANCELLATION POLICY: AFHE Membership and Convention Registration are non-refundable and non-transferable.  If you are unable to attend this year’s AFHE Convention for some reason, please know that you are supporting a non-profit organization that serves the Arizona homeschool community all year long and we appreciate your support.

OUT OF STATE ATTENDEES: We welcome out-of-state residents at our convention and enjoy having a number of attendees from neighboring states and from around the country join us each year.

NON-MEMBER PRICING: Non-member pricing is available at the door, however even out-of-state guests may wish to join AFHE to get the best admission pricing for the AFHE Convention along with some of our member benefits such as a subscription to the AFHE Magazine.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT CONVENTION REGISTRATION AND MEMBERSHIP FEES: If your membership expiration date is July 31 or earlier, membership must be renewed to get the member discount price on convention admission. Only those whose membership expires August or later do not need to renew to get the member discount because their membership expires after convention. You get to attend one convention per membership year at the member discount price.

ADDING TO YOUR ALREADY COMPLETED REGISTRATION: If you have already completed your Convention registration and you need to add your spouse, child, teen, Friday evening tickets, etc. please email our registration coordinator to assist you. After June 20, additions can be made at the door.

Adult Admission

Adult admission is for an individual adult or married couple.  Free spouse admission is included to encourage husbands and wives to attend together. (NOTE: If your spouse is not able to join you, you may not bring a friend in your husband’s place.)

The admission fee is good for both Friday and Saturday. Whether you’re attending as an individual or you can only attend one day, it is still a fantastic value for all you get to experience!

Pre-registration discount admission is only available for members.

The rates below for April, May, and June are the member discount rate. Adult convention admission fees noted below are for an individual adult or married couple and do not include the AFHE Membership fee of $35. If your membership expires July 31 or earlier, a one-year AFHE Membership will automatically be added to your cart in order to proceed with Convention registration.

After June 20, registration will be available at the door for full price.

Must be a current member whose membership expires August 1 or later or pay the $35 membership fee to join or if membership expires July 31 or earlier.

Non-member on-site registration does not include membership and membership is not required.

Youth Admission

Children and teens ages 3-18 and unmarried homeschooled graduates still living at home or enrolled in college may register for $10 each. Infants age 2 and under are free of charge and are not registered. Youth admission is the same for pre-registration and on-site.

Children’s Program and Teen Program have limited seating and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and  include admission to the Convention.

VIP Convention Experience – Elite Admission Package

We have an outstanding opportunity for a couple of very special donors who have some discretionary income and a desire to support the work of AFHE all while enjoying an elite convention experience with exclusive benefits.

Your name badge is your admission to all areas of the convention including workshops, keynotes, and the exhibit hall. Name badges must be worn at all times while at the AFHE Convention. Name badges may not be shared or transferred. First and last names are required on all name badges.

For those register online by June 20, your name badges will be available for pick up on-site in the South Lobby of the Phoenix Convention Center. Look for the Pre-Registration sign. Name badges will be not be mailed.

Those who register at the door will be issued a handwritten name badge at on-site registration.

We value the importance of grandparents in the homeschooling process and welcome grandparents at the convention! Non-homeschooling grandparents are always free if they attend with their adult child who is registered for the convention. Grandparents who are still homeschooling one or more of their own children must register separately and pay the admission fee.

We love children and you are welcome to bring your child/children with you, if desired. This conference is geared for parent / teacher enrichment and learning, however, and space is limited in workshop rooms. We encourage you to make childcare arrangements, if possible.

Teens and children (age 3 and up) will be charged an admission fee of $10 each. Infants (age 2 and under) are admitted free. A curtained mothers’ area will be available in the exhibit hall for nursing/feeding infants. Children under age 12 must remain with an adult at all times.

Homeschooled students ages 12-18 are invited to participate in the 2017 AFHE Convention Teen Program. Space is limited. This special two-day program is educational, and fun! The Teen Program registration fee includes admission to all of the Convention.

Unmarried homeschooled graduates that are attending college or still living at home may register for the convention at the $10 youth rate if they register with their parents. Married graduates or those living on their own must register separately and pay the adult admission fee.

NOTE: If a workshop room is full, we ask you to have your younger child sit on your lap, if possible. Since the convention is geared toward parent education and equipping, we want as many adults as possible to have the opportunity to sit in on a workshop. If your child is fussy/noisy, please step out of the workshop with them until they quiet. While we are all parents and appreciate that children make noise, we want to respect that many attendees have made childcare arrangements so they can get the most out of the weekend. In addition, the workshops are being recorded and we want to minimize noise in the rooms to get the best quality recordings.

AFHE offers a special discount rate to first-time attendees. This offer is for adults who have never before registered for the AFHE Convention and is limited to the first 500 to contact us to request a coupon code.
First Time Attendees

AFHE Membership and Convention Registration are non-refundable and non-transferable.  If you are unable to attend this year’s AFHE Convention for some reason, please know that you are supporting a non-profit organization that serves the Arizona homeschool community all year long and we appreciate your support.

As a means to share the vision of home education and to build strong relationships with Christian churches, we invite non-homeschooling pastors of Arizona churches to attend the convention free of charge. This offer is extended to pastors who do not teach their own children at home currently, but are interested in learning more about homeschooling.

Please have your pastor contact us at registration@afhe.org to receive registration instructions.

Pastors who are homeschooling one or more of their children must register as a regular attendee and pay the admission fee.

The AFHE Convention is run almost entirely by volunteers. Volunteers are an integral part of the success of the annual Arizona Home Education Convention hosted by AFHE. Our volunteer workers help keep costs to a minimum while continuing to provide an excellent conference. We are thankful to each and every volunteer who helps to make this event a success!

Volunteers who serve 5 or more hours* during the convention can earn free admission. Those interested in volunteering will complete an online application. Once scheduled, you will receive a special registration link. *Married couples can split the hours, but must work a minimum of 6 hours.

The opportunity to volunteer is a benefit of membership. Current AFHE Membership is required. If you are not currently a member or your membership expires July 31, 2018 or earlier, you can add registration to your Convention registration.

Photographs or video taken at this event may be published in the AFHE magazine, on the AFHE website, on AFHE social media pages, or in other AFHE publications. AFHE does not provide compensation or royalties in conjunction with publication or use of these materials. Any photographs, video, or audio used by AFHE from this event will be used with the purpose of celebrating and promoting homeschooling in Arizona.

We are pleased to announce that we will provide a book check just inside the exhibit hall to the left next to the AFHE Booth. You’ll be able to leave your purchases and strollers for a small fee with our book check team. Claim numbers will be issued to allow you to pick up your items or add to your pile.

Due to space limitations and hazards due to blocked aisles, strollers will only be permitted in workshop rooms in the open spaces in the back row. You may park your strollers and roller bags in the book check area for a small fee. Strollers and roller bags are fine in the ballroom and in the exhibit hall.

AFHE will provide a Continuing Education form for foster parents, childcare workers, and others who need to accrue professional development hours. If you need a form, please ask at the registration counter. An AFHE representative will sign the form and the attendee will write in the workshops he/she attended along with the presenters’ names. AFHE does not have information about which sessions qualify for hours needed for the recipient.

The past couple of years we offered a discount rate exhibit hall only pass for Saturday afternoon for those who just wanted to come and shop in the exhibit hall. Unfortunately, with the schedule change putting our Saturday keynote at the end of the day and misuse by an increasing number of our attendees, the exhibit hall only pass has been discontinued for 2018. We encourage you to take advantage of early registration pricing and volunteer opportunities to save on admission fees.

AFHE will secure the services of an ASL interpreter for both keynote sessions as well as workshop sessions taking place in the South Ballroom. While we cannot guarantee we will be able to provide this service every year, we are thankful for the opportunity to do so again in 2018. A number of seats will be reserved at the front in the ballroom for deaf and hard of hearing.

We are grateful for the partnership and support of this year’s AFHE Convention Sponsors! Please be sure to visit their booths and like their social media pages. Our sponsors help make the AFHE Convention a very special experience and help keep the admission fees as affordable as possible.
