May 27th, 2021: Thank you for your patience, support, and encouragement of the 37th Annual AFHE Homeschool Convention which will be held at Grand Canyon University. As promised, we wanted to be sure to provide updates to the homeschool community regarding the on-campus policy concerning face coverings.

GCU has updated its COVID-19 policies to reflect the new CDC guidelines (it may take a few days before it is posted on their website; however, they have given us permission to share the update with the AFHE community). For the AFHE convention, this means that the use of face coverings and social distancing are not required on GCU’s campus and will be based on personal preference. This includes all keynote, workshop, and exhibit hall spaces.

The health, wellness, and safety of all of our guests, exhibitors, and volunteers is of the utmost importance. Therefore, we do ask each attendee to consider taking advantage of our virtual livestreaming option in the event that you exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms or had direct exposure within 3 days of the scheduled event.

AFHE will continue to monitor the latest COVID-19 information from GCU and be sure to post details at

MAY 9, 2021: Thank you for your patience over these last few weeks. As guests on the GCU campus, the AFHE Convention will adhere to the policies that are in effect through their summer session, including face coverings worn indoors and reduced building capacities. The university has worked hard to find more space for us to expand our programming and accommodate the maximum possible attendance – which means more workshop options for you! We are making the needed adjustments to our registration process and plan to open registration later this week.

First Time Attendee and Military Discount coupon codes will still allow registration at 50% off the admission price for one adult + spouse at the date of registration. Instructions for using your coupon code will be on this page. To request a discount for a First Time Attendee or Military Family, go to the CONVENTION menu above and select the appropriate option to find the request form.

Current AFHE membership will be necessary to access pre-registration for our in-person event. To become a member, renew your membership, or check your membership renewal date, click on MEMBERSHIP above.

LOG INTO YOUR MEMBER PROFILE TO REGISTER:  AFHE Members, be sure to log into your member profile before you begin the registration process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your name badge is your admission to workshops, keynotes, and the exhibit hall. Name badges must be worn at all times while at the AFHE Convention. Name badges may not be shared or transferred. First and last names are required on all name badges.

For those who register online by June 25, your name badges will be available for pick up on-site at the Box Office windows on the north side of the GCU Arena. Look for the PRE-REGISTRATION sign. Name badges will be not be mailed.

Those who register at the door will be issued a handwritten name badge at on-site registration.

We love children and you are welcome to bring your child/children with you, if desired. This conference is geared for parent-educator enrichment and learning, however, and space is limited in workshop rooms. We encourage you to make childcare arrangements, if possible.

Most workshops will be held in college lecture halls with stadium-style seating, with the entrance at the front of the room. There will be extremely limited space for strollers in these lecture halls and they will have to remain at the front of the room at the entry level.

Young children (age 5 and under) are admitted free. A designated mothers’ lounge will be available adjacent to the GCU Arena exhibit hall for nursing/feeding infants. Children under age 12 must remain with an adult at all times.

Homeschooled students ages 12-18 are invited to participate in the 2021 AFHE Convention Teen Program for $25. Space is limited. This special two-day program is educational and fun! The Teen Program registration fee includes admission to all of the Convention.

Unmarried homeschooled graduates that are attending college or still living at home may register for the convention at the $35 per-person rate if they register with their parents. Married graduates or those living on their own must register separately.

Homeschool graduates of AFHE member families are welcome to volunteer at the AFHE convention!

NOTE: If a workshop room is full, we ask you to have your younger child sit on your lap, if possible. Since the convention is geared toward parent education and equipping, we want as many adults as possible to have the opportunity to sit in on a workshop. If your child is fussy/noisy, please step out of the workshop with them until they quiet.

While we are all parents and appreciate that children make noise, we want to respect that many attendees have made childcare arrangements so they can get the most out of the weekend. In addition, the workshops are being recorded and we want to minimize background noise in the rooms to get the best quality recordings.

AFHE offers a special discount rate to first-time attendees. This offer is for adults who have never before registered for the AFHE Convention. Request your coupon code through the online form on the First-Time Attendees page.
First Time Attendees

Active duty military and reservist families can receive a military discount of 50% off adult registration fee.

A current AFHE Membership is required.

Free parking is plentiful on the campus of Grand Canyon University. Parking lot maps and instructions will be detailed here shortly.

The AFHE Convention is run almost entirely by volunteers. Volunteers are an integral part of the success of the annual Arizona Home Education Convention hosted by AFHE. Our volunteer workers help keep costs to a minimum while continuing to provide an excellent conference. We are thankful to each and every volunteer who helps to make this event a success!

Learn more information at the volunteer webpage

Volunteers who serve 5 or more hours during the convention can earn free admission. Those interested in volunteering will complete an online application. Once your volunteer shifts are scheduled, you will receive a special registration link.

The opportunity to volunteer is a benefit of membership. Current AFHE Membership expiring August 1, 2021 or later is required.

Photographs or video taken at this event may be published in the AFHE magazine, on the AFHE website, on AFHE social media pages, or in other AFHE publications. AFHE does not provide compensation or royalties in conjunction with publication or use of these materials. Any photographs, video, or audio used by AFHE from this event will be used with the purpose of celebrating and promoting homeschooling in Arizona.

We are pleased to provide a book check in the Practice Facility exhibit hall just inside the door to the left. You’ll be able to leave your purchases and strollers for a small daily fee with our book check team. Claim numbers will be issued to allow you to pick up items or add to your stored items.

Stroller and wheeled cart parking is $3 per day with in-and-out privileges for the day.

Due to space limitations and hazards due to blocked aisles, strollers will only be permitted in designated spaces in the front of lecture halls or the back of level-grade classrooms and Ethington Theater. You may park your strollers and roller bags in the book check area (space available basis) for a small fee. Strollers and roller bags are fine in the Antelope Gym (floor only, not in the bleachers), exhibitor workshop classrooms, and in the exhibit halls.

AFHE will provide a Continuing Education form for foster parents, childcare workers, and others who need to accrue professional development hours. If you need a form, please ask at the registration counter. An AFHE representative will sign the form and the attendee will write in the workshops he/she attended along with the presenters’ names. AFHE does not have information about which sessions qualify for hours needed for the recipient.

As a means to share the vision of home education and to build strong relationships with Christian churches, we invite non-homeschooling pastors of Arizona churches to attend the convention free of charge. This offer is extended to pastors who do not teach their own children at home currently, but are interested in learning more about homeschooling.

Please have your pastor contact us at to receive registration instructions.

Pastors who are homeschooling one or more of their children must register as a regular attendee and pay the admission fee.
