Discount rates are available at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix, just a short two-block walk from the Convention Center South Building. To receive the group rate, make your RESERVATION ONLINE or mention Arizona Families for Home Education when making your reservation by phone. Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is available for an additional charge. Reservations must be made no later than Wednesday, June 21 to get the discount group rate. Rooms are limited. Parking is not included and costs $19 per 24-hour period for overnight self-parking with in-out privileges. Valet parking is $28. Check-in time is 3:00 PM. Check-out time is 12:00 PM.

The Hyatt is offering a 25% discount on self-parking at the Regency Garage for AFHE Convention attendees registered at the Hyatt with our group rate booking. In addition, the Hyatt is providing free wireless Internet. And one added bonus, the room rate is the same for up to 4 people staying in the room. (No additional charge of $25 per person for the third and fourth guests in a room as in years past.)

Food is available for purchase from on-site concessions during AFHE Convention exhibit hall hours for your convenience. In addition, numerous fast food locations and restaurants are within walking distance. A map can be picked up at the Phoenix Convention Center information desk just inside the South Building main lobby entrance or visit downtownphoenix.com

PCC’S FOOD POLICY: The Phoenix Convention Center does not allow convention attendees to bring in outside food unless they are individual meals. So, if you purchase food at a nearby fast food restaurant or you bring in your own sack lunch, you must have one sack/package/beverage per person. PCC will not allow families to bring in lunch orders for multiple people in one sack/package. Please, no family picnic baskets, ice chests, large pizzas, case water, etc.


Parking is plentiful near the Phoenix Convention Center. Parking downtown costs approximately $10-$15 per day.


Oversized vehicles can be parked in several places:

1) City Garage on 5th street and Washington is very large and almost always has oversize spaces available.

2) Collier Center on Washington and 3rd street. They have just over 8’ clearance.

3) Jefferson Street garage if you enter on 4th street just north of Jefferson Street.

4.) You can park at any open lot like the one on 2nd street and Washington, directly across from Chase Field.

Your name badge is your admission to all areas of the convention including workshops, keynotes, and the exhibit hall. Name badges must be worn at all times while at the AFHE Convention. Name badges may not be shared or transferred. First and last names are required on all name badges.

For those who participate in early registration by June 16, your name badges will be available for pick up on-site in the South Lobby of the Phoenix Convention Center. Look for the Pre-Registration sign. Name badges will be not be mailed.

Those who register at the door will be issued a handwritten name badge at on-site registration.


We are once again offering an Exhibit Hall Only Pass for those who have limited time and just want to come and shop. The fee for the pass is $25 per adult and is good Saturday from 12:00-5:00 PM only.

Exhibit hall passes may be purchased on-site starting at 12:00 PM Saturday at the registration counter. Passes may not be shared or transferred. Membership is neither required nor included with this pass. Children and teens are $10 each. Admission to workshops is not included.

BONUS: Exhibit hall only pass holders are invited to join us for the closing keynote at 5:00 PM Saturday in the ballroom at no extra charge.


We are pleased to announce that we will provide a book check inside the exhibit hall on the right. You’ll be able to leave your purchases and strollers for a small fee with our book check team. Claim numbers will be issued to allow you to pick up your items or add to your pile.

NEW IN 2017: Due to space limitations and hazards due to blocked aisles, strollers will not be permitted in the workshop rooms. You may park your strollers in the book check area for a small fee. Strollers are fine in the ballroom and in the exhibit hall.


AFHE will secure the services of an ASL interpreter for both keynote sessions as well as workshop sessions taking place in the South Ballroom. While we cannot guarantee we will be able to provide this service every year, we are thankful for the opportunity to do so again in 2017. A number of seats will be reserved at the front in the ballroom for deaf and hard of hearing.


AFHE will provide a Continuing Education form for foster parents, childcare workers, and others who need to accrue professional development hours. If you need a form, please ask at the registration counter. An AFHE representative will sign the form and the attendee will write in the workshops he/she attended along with the presenters’ names. AFHE does not have information about which sessions qualify for hours needed for the recipient.


Photographs or video taken at this event may be published in the AFHE magazine, on the AFHE website, on AFHE social media pages, or in other AFHE publications. AFHE does not provide compensation or royalties in conjunction with publication or use of these materials. Any photographs, video, or audio used by AFHE from this event will be used with the purpose of celebrating and promoting homeschooling in Arizona.

 Speaker Inquiries

Speaking at the AFHE Convention is by invitation only. Speakers at the AFHE Convention are carefully selected who fit AFHE’s philosophy, vision, and mission, and do not conflict with the AFHE Board of Directors’ biblical worldview.

As part of the speaker selection process, we will review speaker packets that are sent to us. Speaker packets are reviewed in August for the following year’s convention and selections are finalized in the fall.

Speaker packets should include biographical information, workshop titles and descriptions, and a recording or two of the speaker teaching for our review. If we are interested in having you speak, we would contact you in October or November.
